Is it Baha'i law to consummate your marriage? For those of you who don't know what that means, it means to seal the marriage in sex. I've heard that it's Baha'i law to consummate the marriage within twenty-four hours of the wedding. I didn't know that and I'm not sure if it's true. Anyone know?

When Jon and I went through the proceedings consumation was never mentioned... but maybe that was because I was already pregnant? At any rate I don't believe it is, I've still got the books I can look if you want... or your mom should know.

I asked my mom. She didn't think it was a law. Seems like it'd be a silly law

From what I remember, yes, you're supposed to consummate the marriage within 24 hours OR take up residence together with the intent of having a family. I imagine the law is to prevent people from marrying for other reasons. It's in the Kitab-i-Aqdas if you want to look it up. :)
hmm, well, now I can't find it. I remember talking about this though, and speculating on the reasons for the law, so I still kind of think it's in there somewhere...but I can't prove it now.
