I just found this on my dad's laptop...wrote it a year ago.

I tried to smile, but there was only pain.

I tried to love, but there was only heartache.

I tried to forgive, but there was only betrayal.

I tried to forget, but there was only memory.

I tried to understand, but there was only confusion.

I tried to need, but there was only desire.

I tried to focus, but there was only distraction.

I tried to move, but there was only stillness.

I tried to speak, but there was only silence.

I tried to stare, but there was only blindness.

And you tell me to keep trying

And I force myself to continue,

And by the end of the day I’m in tears,

Drained, physically and emotionally

And you watch me fade

Never offering a hand to pull

Me out of this sudden darkness.
