I do heart Ben Stein, and I totally agree with you on the hitting thing, though sometimes you do have to slap a hand with a toddler who just wont listen to reasoning, better to smack the hand than deal with the burn from the stove... but once they're old enough to be "spanked" they're old enough to hear what you've got to say and to be punished in other ways... I"m fond of grounding.. no movies and no bicycle riding for a bad little boy

Thanks! Of course you should slap the hand away from the microwave. But my dad had my mom go to this seminar where the guy said he would take his one year old daughter's diaper and pants off and spank her butt for something she did.
